Emotions…

Sup guyz,

So question, don’t you just hate it when things don’t work out? Whether in a relationship or even a plan? Like take life for example: you have a goal and you don’t see everything between you and that goal. You take that first step and BOOM! 💥 you fall. You get up and try again… BOOM! 💥 And again. Over and over you try. You’re getting closer, but all you feel is you loosing yourself. You just think to yourself, “should I even get up?” Well the answer is “yes!” Get up! Do it again. You’ll fail a thousand  times before you ever get it right! Just don’t let yourself get in the way of being yourself.

“Take that rage, put it on a page, take the page to the stage, blow the roof of the place.” -The Script

Your emotions are important. Put those emotions on a sheet of paper, add a beat, and make it your own.  Put your heart on your sleeve and relate. Make your listeners HEAR what you are saying, not just read what you’re writing. Make your words matter. Only YOU can be YOU!

Anxiety: School vs The Stage

School. The mental and physical battle of all teenagerz (or at least me).

Hi.

The name’z Jay.

Full name Keturah Janay Wooden…(that’s where I get ‘Jay’ from). I’m gonna tell you a bit about myself.

I’m 16 years old. My birthday is December 10th. I play guitar, piano, and drums. I sing and songwrite. I grew up in small town Marianna,Fl (I live in Panama City Beach now with my mom). For 15 years of my life I had nothing to do. I was so introverted. I couldn’t talk to people. I had a hard time making friends. (Now it’s not so hard). Since I started taking group voice lessons at Elliott Vocal Studios in Panama City, I have been much more comfortable being on stage and being in school. This is my first year in public school and so far so great. I’m very thankful for Elliot because they have helped me overcome my nerves and taught me how to keep them under control. I used to have a problem with speaking in front of a class or out loud for that matter, now not so much. So here’s my experience with nerves.

Have you ever been so nervous to the point where you couldn’t walk? Or talk? Or even breathe right? I have. I guess you would call that anxiety. Like on your first day of school or singing on stage for the first time. I’m here to tell you about my experience with anxiety and how to ¨get over your nerves.¨

Okay, so sad truth is you can’t honesty get over all your nerves; you just gotta breathe. (#thestruggle) In through your nose and out your mouth and learn to be comfortable with what you are doing. Roll your shoulders back. Go to your happy place (like in the movies). Cliché, right? But it works. I remember the first time I performed in front of people. I was so nervous. My palms were sweaty, knees weak, my arms were heavy…😏 (sorry I couldn’t help but throw that one out there 😂). I was so shaky you could hear it in my voice (mind you I had not had any vocal training yet).
On your first day of school you’re worried about finding your classrooms and making friends so your not the ¨odd one.¨ (BTW there is nothing wrong with being ¨odd,¨ okay?) I was not as nervous for school as I was performing. (Advice: don’t let stupid people or jerks tell you who you should and shouldn’t be. You are you so be you! You’re the only one who can.)

With love,

 – Jay

Hey guyz,

I’m Jay and this iz my blog.

Okay, so to start off this a blog about music, everything music and certainly being yourself 24/7 and just plain out having fun. (I will also have just a bunch of random stuff too like fashion and art..etc..) So we’ll start with the fact that I love music. I love Rock and Punk and Screamo and Pop and Hip Hop and Jazz and Indie and everything. I love ALL music. And all music speaks to me. When I’m sad or happy or mad or depressed or whatever. Music helpz. Music iz life. Music iz bae. Music iz my life and bae. I didn’t find music- music found me (and boy am I glad it did!). I write music. I play music. I sing music. Music and I are best friends (yes, music and I have fights and pity parties), but that’z what best friends do together. All music, all the time. I’ll write you again soon! And be sure to email me suggestions and topic you want me to talk about at jay.info.me@gmail.com.

– Jay

P.S. Just be yourself! (It’s fun, I promise)
